The sign said open till 5. We were there at 4:20 and they locked the door. Bad business tactics. It was Saturday August 5th. Nice weather. So that's not the reason.
I came here after reading the bad reviews. I found the owner to be quite pleasant. She talked my head off about various matters for about 30 minutes. She explained that she put the cell phone rule in place because of obnoxious customers she's had; I personally thought it was nice. If you can't read the signs on the door before you enter, then you don't have any business being in a book store - probably you're the sort of person looking for the latest teen vampire romance or its latest BDSM spin-off, neither of which you will find here.
Maybe the rudest person I've ever interacted with. Did not purchase anything and recommend no one else does either. Followed me around the store like I was going to steal something and rude comments everytime I picked something up. Should really be "by appointment only" if she wants some kind of elite clientele.
I read the Google reviews for this place before deciding to go there anyway as I love interesting interactions with people. I really enjoyed my experience, despite everyone saying it would be awful. I like the owners style - she doesn't allow cellphones and also only takes cash, so as long as you follow those rules and requests that are clearly posted on the door and counter, she'll be more than pleasant to you. I really enjoyed talking to her and she's an interesting lady.
Was here at 1030 on a Saturday morning and store was supposed to be open. Store was closed and I waited 15 minutes before giving up. Won't be back.
That being said, I didn't see many reviews about the actual shop itself. The front area is filled with self-help and kids books, and to left side is the fiction, classics, and historical non-fiction section. My fiancé and I ended up grabbing about 4 books total, for fairly reasonable prices. I'm pretty happy with my experience there and would definitely go back. Go ahead and pay it a visit as long as you're willing to abide by the store owners rules.
